Rachida Dati Member of the European Parliament, Former French Minister of Justice and Mayor of the 7th District of Paris
Rachida Dati is France’s former Minister of Justice, a Member of the European Parliament (since 2009), the Mayor of the 7th District of Paris (since 2008) and a senior figure in the French main right-wing party Les Républicains.
Ms. Dati has an economic and public law background. She has been graduated of the National School for the Judiciary and of the Higher Institute for Business Studies.
In 2002, she became Nicolas Sarkozy’s advisor, working for him on an anti-delinquency project. After Sarkozy’s victory in 2007, she was appointed Minister of Justice. In 2009. She left her post as minister after being elected as a European deputy.
She is an active Member of the largest political group in the European Parliament, the European’s People Party (EPP) since 2009. Member of the Committee on Civil Liberties and of the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, Rachida is the rapporteur of several key reports at the European parliament.
Ms. Dati has previously served as an Internal Auditor Audit management team of Matra communication and at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
