2014 Philanthropreneurship Prize

About the Prize

The Philanthropreneurship Prize honors and recognizes an organization or an individual for creatively blending business and philanthropy to solve key global challenges.

Having realized that a blank cheque can only go so far to alleviate socio-economic problems, a new wave of philanthropists around the world are challenging conventional philanthropic thinking and practices by harnessing their resources, influential networks and deep knowledge of the marketplace to address pressing challenges. With a more determined focus on results, entrepreneurial philanthropists or philanthropreneurs are willing to take risks to develop innovative solutions that yield concrete outcomes.

A philanthropreneur’s work is characterized by approaches that create:

  • Impactful solutions that make a deep positive difference in the lives of others;
  • Scalable solutions that impact on large numbers of individuals and their communities; and
  • Sustainable solutions, with the ability, resources and demand to last.
